EDAW 2019
Eating Disorder Awareness Week 2019, saw EDCC putting the spotlight on prevention and early intervention.
To mark EDAW 2019 (25 Feb – 3 Mar), we worked with St Colman’s Community College in Midleton. Students from the transition year threw themselves into creating some wonderful art pieces, to highlight many aspects of eating disorders. In attendance was Cllr Danielle Twomey, who deputised for the Mayor of Cork County, and also attending, was Cllr Mick Finn, Lord Mayor of Cork. We were honoured to have both Lord Mayors present on the day along with St Colman’s choir who performed a beautiful rendition of This Is Me.
The week was a busy one, with visits from local organisations to discuss how eating disorders can be both spotted and supported. Several interviews to local press and media too place. Social media was used to highlight, and raise awareness of many of the facets of this complex condition.
