What’s it about?

Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW) is an annual, international event, aimed at raising awareness of all things eating disorders.

It typically takes place during the last week of February each year. EDAW aims to highlight the seriousness of eating disorders, and raise awareness of the myths, causes, triggers, that exist about the condition.

EDAW also highlights the need for adequate treatment services, and early intervention to be made available to the thousands suffering from eating disorders in Ireland.

EDAW also works to remind people that hope of full recovery is possible as long as the right professional treatment is made available to the person suffering from the illness. The need for carer’s support is also highlighted.
